19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from spring of 2023.

The win also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial chances in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
